Summer play has been generally well supported despite the adverse weather conditions particularly in July. Despite our reservations about Friday evening tennis most sessions have been reasonably well supported. The Ladies Team are currently mid table in their league with two matches to be finished due to bad weather. The Men’s ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams are struggling in the lower ends of their leagues and are finding it difficult to replace players who are not available for some matches. The Junior Coaching was very successful and all the available places were filled promptly. Our thanks to our coach Jon Rolnik, his assistant Liam and the organiser Ken Potter.
A most successful B-B-Q and fun tennis day was held on Sunday 2nd September. Twenty five members and their families took part and enjoyed good food, drink, tennis and company. As a result it has been decided to hold a similar event at the start of next season. Sunday afternoon tennis continues during the winter months and members and visitors are welcome form 2.00pm. The Floodlit Winter League fixtures started on on Monday 21st September and sixteen members have indicated that they are available to play. Home matches are played on Friday evenings under the flloodlights at Cleeve School. Prospective new members can contact any of the committee members listed above.
Any players who are not currently members will be welcome to join in by ringing Ronnie Stevens (674010).
